Close to twenty years ago Larry Delpit made his first visit to Old Marsh. Already successful in several other business endeavors in California, he welcomed a new challenge. Real estate development was new to him, but this was a very unique venture. The vision was to create a first class golf club in harmony with a custom home community while preserving the natural splendor of the marshland. A concept more easily said than done.

Soon after, renowned golf course designer Pete Dye was invited to explore the possibilities of designing a world class golf course. His initial reaction was one of absolute awe.

“My first glance at the site of Old Marsh made me wonder whether a roaring lion might appear from deep in the high grass, since the marshland’s rich vegetation and abundant species of wildlife reminded me of Africa” he recalled.

Dye was commissioned to build the course and one of the great golf venues anywhere was born.

As Mr. Delpit spent more time at Old Marsh, a personal affection, larger than any investment, developed. Within a few years he shouldered all financial responsibility and became sole owner. He recently reflected,

“I just wanted to keep Old Marsh pure and undisturbed. I truly enjoy the way this community combines nature with one of the best golf courses in the world.”

It is overwhelmingly obvious that his vision is realized.
